"i remember the first major 'single band' concert i went to. There performing was one of my favorite bands at the time, the "dave matthews band." Paying 50 dollars for beyond noisebleed/stuck in the only corner-of-the-delta-center seating and listening to songs which 95% percent were unfamiliar, needless to say it wasn't as 'dreamy' as i wished. however, the songs became more familiar, and i started to enjoy myself more and more. After finishing with a great song, dave thanked us all and they walked off the stage. [actual inner monologue...well, the general idea...] "dang, it's over. but, whats this? no one is leaving? they are still cheering? why? the concert is over, dave said so! what is that? encore? what an interesting idea. i thought encore was what you yelled at operas. i guess the same thing COULD apply here. hmm, dave and his band don't seem to care though. hmm, well, maybe we can just go now and beat the rush. wait, whats this? a fluctuation in the cheering? OH MY WORD WE DID IT! THEY ACTUALLY CAME BACK TO PLAY MORE OF THEIR SONGS FOR US! wow! we actually caused them to take back their words of ending their little jam session to impart more songs on us! should i take a picture? wow, an encore! they actually did it. who knew it, they must love us here in utah, maybe dave and his band will move here. there is a house down the street for sale, we could go hometeaching together! hey, i love this song. i can't believe they came back for us. this must be rare.]i was thinking about this the other day when i was listening to some 'bootleg' concerts and the fact that bands ALWAYS encore. now that i understand this is protocol, but back then, i thought we were PRETTY special.

That's so cute and naive. Ahhhh, what a special little Ry Ries.
Please don't ever spend $50 on Dave Matthews again. :)
